Lake Tahoe is as long as the English Channel is wide with the width being 1.5 times as wide as the San Francisco Bay.

Lake Tahoe's water is 99.9% pure. The water is so clear that a 10 inch white dinner plate would be visble at a depth of
75 ft below the surface.

The Panama Canel, which averages 700 feet in width and 50 feet in depth, could not only be filled by the water in Lake Tahoe and extend completely around the world at the equator, there would be enough water left over to fill another channel of the same width and depth running from San Francisco to New York.

The water in Lake Tahoe never reaches the ocean. It's only outlet, the Truckee River, flows eastward through Reno, then North and feeds into Pyramid Lake.
